Spot turmeric prices increased in Erode markets on Monday due to arrival of good quality.

“Traders, especially exporters, procured good number of turmeric due to arrival of good quality produce. Many buyers were keen on buying quality hybrid turmeric and also local root variety turmeric. Of the total 4,000 bags that arrived, 60 per cent was sold,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.

At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹3,588-7,299 a quintal; the root variety ₹3,527-6,909.

Salem Hybrid: The finger variety fetched ₹6,019-7,866; the root variety ₹5,909-7,469. Of the 1,833 bags that arrived, 952 were sold.

At the Regulated Market Committee, the finger turmeric went for ₹6,413-7,515 and the root variety ₹6,169-7,069. Of the 1,296 bags on sale, 1,029 were traded.

At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,569-7,799; the root variety ₹6,283-7,129. All the 662 bags found takers.
