The downtrend continued in tur for the second consecutive week on weak buying and slack demand with prices declining in the last one week by ₹150-200 a quintal. On Wednesday, tur (Maharashtra) ruled at ₹5,000-5,100 a quintal, while tur (Madhya Pradesh) declined to ₹4,500-4,800. Besides weak demand, the bearish sentiment in tur has been attributed to rains which lashed various parts of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan in the past few days. According to farmers, the recent rains have bolstered the prospect of tur and urad crops.
According to traders, any major fall in tur prices from the current level appears unlikely given expected rise in demand during the ensuing festive season.
Tur dal (full) was being quoted at ₹6,450-6,650, tur dal (sawa no.) at ₹7,150-7,550, while tur marka ruled at ₹7,650-7,850.
Sluggish trend in moong ended today with demand outstripping arrivals. On Wednesday, new moong rose to ₹7,000-7,200 (₹6,500-7,000). Moong dal (medium) was at ₹7,600-7,700, moong dal (bold) ₹7,800-7,900, while moong mongar ruled at ₹8,500-8,700.
Favourable crop report and weak buying also dragged urad and its dal with urad (bold)at ₹5,600-5,800, while urad (medium) ruled at ₹4,800-5,200. Urad dal (medium) ruled at ₹6,250-6,450, urad dal (bold) at ₹6,650-6,850, while urad mongar ruled at ₹7,600-7,900 a quintal.
