Chemfab Alkalis has informed the exchanges that it has commenced commercial operations by producing and dealing in industrial grade salt at its Mariyur unit beginning August 24. Shares of Chemfab Alkalis jumped 3.7 per cent at ₹264 on the NSE.

Prism Cement on Thursday said that its shareholders have approved the company’s proposal to raise up to ₹1,250 crore through a private placement of bonds. Shareholders through a special resolution allowed the board to make offers to subscribe to secured/unsecured non-convertible debentures, including but not limited to bonds and/or other debt securities on private placement basis, the firm said in a regulatory filing. The stock of Prism Cement closed a tad higher at ₹114.8 against the previous day’s close of ₹114.45 on the NSE.

Thomas Cook India said that it would conduct training programmes to boost the Madhya Pradesh government’s tourism initiatives. The company’s education and training division has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corp to host a two-month training programme for over 660 travel agents from 20 cities for the ‘Explore Madhya Pradesh’ initiative. Earlier, this week, the company had entered into a share purchase agreement with Sri Lanka-based tourism firm Sita World Travel Lanka Pvt Ltd, to acquire 24 per cent stake in the company. Shares of Thomas Cook India closed at ₹199.05, up 1.17 per cent on the NSE.
