Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange opened weak at Rs 30,673 per 10 grams on Thursday against the previous close of Rs 30,691.
February contract made a high of Rs 30,698 and low of Rs 30,626. It was trading down 0.15 per cent at Rs 30,642 at 1.05 p.m.
In Comex, the yellow metal was down by $8 at $1,679 an ounce at 1.05 p.m.
The depreciation of rupee against dollar in the currency futures market is limiting the fall in gold prices in India.
