Gold prices rose 0.29 per cent to Rs 26,842 per 10 grams at the futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, taking positive cues from global markets.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October moved up by Rs 78 or 0.29 per cent to Rs 26,842 per ten grams in a business turnover of one lot.

Similarly, the yellow metal for delivery in August traded higher by Rs 71 or 0.27 per cent to Rs 26,604 per ten grams in 110 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in gold prices to a firm global trend.

Meanwhile, gold increased 0.2 per cent to $1,177.39 an ounce in Singapore.
