Silver prices were down by 0.17 per cent at Rs 41,060 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators engaged in trimming their positions taking negative cues from the global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver prices for delivery in May declined by Rs 69 or 0.17 per cent to Rs 41,060 per kg in a business turnover of 348 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in July contracts traded lower by Rs 64 or 0.15 per cent at Rs 41,610 per kg in 12 lots.
Analysts said trimming of positions by participants on the back of a weak trend overseas, mainly kept silver prices lower at the futures trade.
Globally, silver fell 0.31 per cent to $17.88 an ounce in Singapore.
