The sudden demise of Dalal Street veteran Parag Parikh in a road accident in the US on Sunday has stunned investors.
Sunil Gautam, non-Executive Director of Parag Parikh Financial Advisory Services (PPFAS), said, “He was more than a brother to me and was an astute and a fine man with great knowledge of investments and markets. He was always willing to learn and led a highly disciplined life. It is a great personal loss to me.”
Known to be an advocate of value investing, Parikh always encouraged his clients to invest for the long term and did not encourage rampant speculation.
Arun Kejriwal, Founder KRIS Research, said “The news of Parag’s passing away came as a shock to me. I have known him since I entered the stock market in the late 80s. A strong advisor and a down-to-earth person is no more. It is an irreparable loss.” Another Dalal Street veteran Janak Mathuradas said, “Earlier, we used to regularly meet each other during the brokers’ conference of IPOs. He was innovative and achieved a lot in his life.”
