Banking sector stocks, which were the predominant gainers in the morning session, retreated to make way for other stocks by the close on Friday.
At 3.35 pm Sesa Sterlite was the top gainer on the NSE, quoting at ₹214.95, representing a gain of 11.03 per cent on its previous close of ₹193.60.
Punjab National Bank rode up 7.34 per cent at ₹917.95 as against ₹855.20 at close on Thursday.
BPCL flared up 6.92 per cent to trade at ₹552.10 as against its previous close of ₹516.35.
BHEL was trading at ₹231.60, up 6.19 per cent on its previous close of ₹218.10.
DLF was up 6.10 per cent at ₹169.70. The stock had closed the previous session at ₹159.95.
