Shares of Bharti Airtel jumped as much as 6 per cent as Reliance Jio had last week raised effective rates of some popular plans signalling more pricing discipline in the sector.
The telecom company shares opened the session at Rs 472, touched an intraday high of Rs 501.45 and a low of Rs 472. The scrip's 52-week high was Rs 501.45 on the BSE. In terms of equity volume, 7.83 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE.
The company shares ended higher by 4.99 per cent at Rs 497.50 on the BSE. On the NSE, the stock closed up by 4.92 per cent to Rs 497.05.
According to information published on the company’s website, subscribers of ₹149 plan will get 4GB of data for each billing cycle of 28 days under the new scheme “Diwali Dhamaka” compared with 2GB being offered at present.
Jio has also reduced the recharge tariff for lower denomination and short-term plans besides offering data benefits under the schemes.
