Meghmani Organics on Thursday informed the exchanges of a fire mishap at its Dahej SEZ plant, Dahej, Gujarat. The fire broke out at 22.25 IST on Wednesday in one of the manufacturing sections of its pigment manufacturing division. The plant has four manufacturing sections supported by other sub-sections. Only one manufacturing section of Beta Blue got affected due to the fire. All staff members are safe and no one was injured during the incident. The company is ascertaining the loss and also investigating the cause of fire, it added. Shares of the pigments and agrochemicals manufacturer, slumped 8.34 per cent at ₹43.95 on the NSE.
The board of Kirloskar Ferrous Industries on Thursday approved the acquisition of VSL Steels’ pig iron plant for ₹155 crore in cash. The amount will be payable in installments and will be subject to certain commercial conditions, necessary governmental or regulatory approvals and approval of the board and shareholders of VSL Steels, it added. Kirloskar Ferrous Industries has two manufacturing plants — at Koppal district in Karnataka and at Solapur in Maharashtra. VSL Steels (formerly SLR Steels) manufactures pig iron and is part of the VSL Group. The stock of Kirloskar Ferrous closed marginally higher at ₹82.45 on the BSE.
Ambuja Cements has secured 96,000 tonnes of coal a year from South Eastern Coalfields, a subsidiary of Coal India. The cement-maker will have to pay a premium of ₹80 a tonne over the base price of ₹970, the company said in an exchange filing. Shares of Ambuja Cements gained 1.32 per cent at ₹271.55 on the NSE, while those of Coal India were up 1.35 per cent at ₹329.95.
