Shares of Monsanto India will remain in focus on global media buzz that Bayer AG is exploring to bid for US-based Monsanto Co. A merger would make it the world’s largest seeds/farm chemicals company. Reports say the German firm has held preliminary talks internally and with advisers for Monsanto. Sensing that, the Monsanto stock on Thursday shot up on the BSE. If the deal goes through, Bayer will have to make an open offer to Monsanto India shareholders.
