Metal and auto sector stocks maintained their firm trend on the BSE through the trading day on Tuesday. Hindalco Industries, the top gainer in morning trade, extended its gains near the close. At 3 pm the metal stock was at ₹175.55, a gain of 6.98 per cent on its previous close of ₹164.10.
Maruti Suzuki nearly doubled its morning gains to 6.26 per cent near the close. The auto company, which announced that sales in June grew 31 per cent year-on-year, was quoted at ₹2,590.95 as against ₹2,438.35 at close on Monday.
Tata Motors was up 4.27 per cent at at ₹449.55. The stock had closed yesterday’s session at ₹431.15.
M&M maintained its gains at 4.02 per cent. It was quoting at ₹1,194 as against yesterday’s close at ₹1,147.90.
Tata Steel edged lower to hold gains of 2.40 per cent at ₹541. It had ended Monday’s session at ₹528.30.
