NHPC has informed the exchanges that due to some fault in one of the GSU transformers at Unit 2 of Uri II power station, a fire broke out on Thursday around 6 a.m. The power station was immediately shut down. Fire fighting systems/ fire tenders were mobilised from Srinagar & Uri I power station. Personnel are unable to enter the power station due to heavy smoke. Efforts are being made to control the fire by taking the help of fire department of J&K. Shares of NHPC closed at ₹20.4, down 1.21 per cent over the previous day's close on the BSE.
