Cement shares UltraTech Cement, Grasim Industries and ACC surged on the NSE by the close of trading on Tuesday. At 3.30 pm UltraTech Cement led the pack on the NSE, quoting at Rs 2,818.50 as against Rs 2,700.30 at close on Monday.
Grasim Industries rode up 3.23 per cent to quote at Rs 3,546.35. The share had finished yesterday’s session at Rs 3,435.55.
ACC traded firm to quote at Rs 1,441.70 as against Rs 1,404.60. This was a gain of 2.64 per cent.
Asian Paints maintained its firm morning undertone to quote at Rs 833.85. This represented a gain of 3.23 per cent on its previous close at Rs 807.75.
Kotak Mahindra Bank extended its recent firm trend to quote at Rs 1,392.95. This was a gain of 1.60 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 1,371.
The markets, which held steady in the morning session, lost ground by close on weak global cues. The overseas markets were weighed down by the continued slide in oil prices. The Sensex lost 160 points in late session to fall below the 27,500-mark, while the NSE Nifty gave up nearly 25 points to fall below the 8,300-level.
