UltraTech Cement made rapid strides to emerge the top gainer on the NSE ahead of the close on Monday. At 3.25 pm the stock was trading firm at ₹2,453.60. This represented a gain of 5.86 per cent on its previous close at ₹2,317.75.

ONGC, which ruled firm on the markets today, came off its early highs by close. It was quoting at ₹417, up 5.01 per cent on its Friday close at ₹397.10.

The market soared nearly 400 points in Monday morning trade, lifted by oil sector reforms announced by the Government on Saturday and the resounding victory registered by the BJP in the Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana.

Hindalco Industries was trading at ₹146.40. This was a gain of 4.98 per cent on Friday’s close at ₹139.45.

DLF built gains of 4.61 per cent to quote at ₹115.70 by the close. The stock had closed Friday’s session at ₹110.60.

BPCL edged down to hold gains of 4.09 per cent at ₹694.05. The stock had ended the previous week at ₹666.75.
