Capital market regulator SEBI has unveiled a simple two-page account opening form, called Saral AOF, for new investors.
Saral account investors will have a trading and demat account only. SEBI said a majority of investors, when they start off, do not use facilities such as Internet trading, margin trading, derivatives trading and use of power of attorney.
Investors who open an account using Saral AOF have the option to avail the above mentioned facilities on furnishing the requisite additional information, SEBI said. All other standard documents would also apply to Saral AOF.
