Sensex gains 194 points; IT, Infra leads the rally

The Nifty and the Sensex mirrored Asian cues and gained about a per cent on Friday.

The Nifty closed at 5698 up 53 points while the Sensex closed at 18755 up 194 points.

“Better manufacturing data of India along with positive US economic data released recently boosted the buying,”said Nidhi Saraswat of Bonanaza Portfolio.

All the indices on the NSE and the BSE closed in the green. PSU bank, IT, Infrastructure and auto stocks led the rally. Volatility was down three per cent and the India Vix closed at 13.66.

GAIL, Bajaj Auto, L&T, ICICI Bank and Lupin were the top five Nifty gainers while Bharti Airtel, Jindal Steel, HUL, BPCL and JP associates were the top losers.
