Metal sector stocks maintained their firm undertone to lead the pack of top gainers on the BSE ahead of the close on Wednesday. At 2.50 pm Tata Steel was the top gainer, up 5.34 per cent to quote at ₹358.90 as against ₹340.70 at close yesterday.
Hindalco was quoting at ₹120, up 4.48 per cent on its earlier close of ₹114.85.
Sesa Sterlite was the third metal stock in the pack. It was trading at ₹177, up 2.70 per cent on its previous close of ₹172.35.
Axis Bank edged up further to hold gains of 2.44 per cent at ₹1,381.50 as against ₹1,348.65 at close overnight.
HDFC advanced 1.77 per cent to trade at ₹866.50 as against ₹851.45 at close on Tuesday.
