Analysts would be keenly watching the developments at Eastern Coalfields, a subsidiary of Coal India. According to ECL, a notice has been issued to shut down one of its mines in Asansol, West Bengal, as the union leaders threatened the company’s officers. If the mine is shut down, the production loss for Coal India is estimated at 400 tonnes a day and will be a major setback for ECL, which is facing production loss due to monsoon and pollution issues.
