Alembic Pharmaceuticals has received the US health regulator’s approval to market hypertension drug Candesartan Cilexetil tablets in the US. The company’s product is therapeutically equivalent to AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals’ Atacand tablet, which is indicated for treatment of hypertension. According to IMS data, Candesartan Cilexetil tablets had an estimated market size of $27 million in the US for the 12 months ended December 2016.
