Mentor - Human Resources

Practice vs employment

I recently qualified as a company secretary. I got an offer at the entry level from a large diversified organisation belonging to a well-established group. But I am interested in practising as a company secretary right now. However, I am yet to establish the right contacts in the industry. Should I engage in practice or look at the job offer?

Lalita Mani, Hyderabad

As a fresher, it would be beneficial to take up the job offer. You have the opportunity to work in diverse assignments under the guidance of senior professionals. You can learn fast in a dynamic corporate environment and prove yourself as well. Besides, on the monetary front, too, it will help you. After serving the industry for about five years, you would be mature enough to take the decision as to whether practice is your cup of tea.
