Management Columns - 60 Seconds Chief! Treat colleagues with respect
Mr Marshall Fitz
Mr Marshall Fitz is Director of Advocacy for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Washington, DC. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia, School of Law where he served on the Virginia Law Review. Here's his take on four questions from Business Line: Two things that my education/training taught me: To think critically and outside the box. The importance and power of clear, cogent writing. Two things I learnt from my work/real life: The most important skills (but too often the least emphasised) are interpersonal skills, the ability to work and relate to others in a positive way. Even during crises you must treat co-workers and colleagues with kindness and respect. What I look for the most in a new recruit: I always look for two qualities: intelligence, and the interpersonal skills that are essential to working as part of a team. A book that I read recently: A Fine Balance, by Robinton Mistry. As told to Kannan Srinivasan, a US-based chartered accountant.
