TCS cuts annual leave

Responses to Sticklish Issues dated December 4

In India, family celebrations such as marriage functions are events when family members get a chance to meet. And such events are usually arranged to coincide with the annual vacation.

When time spent with family is reported to be on the decline, cut in annual vacation will not be in the larger interest of its employees. TCS should reconsider its decision..

S. Nallasivan, Tirunelveli

In a competitive world and five-day week, this step is inevitable. Besides, in IT companies employees can work from home as well.

S. Krithivasan, e-mail

Though TCS has increased its staff strength, experienced staff is scarce. Mass leave applications only add to the pressure. The way out is to reduce vacation period.

T. S. Sundareswaran, New Delhi

The TCS decision to cut annual vacation days to 16 for India-based staff is discriminatory.

A. Jacob Sahayam, Thiruvananthapuram
