Don't compromise on basic values

Mr C. J. George is the Managing Director of Geojit Financial Services Ltd. A post-graduate in commerce, he started his career as an analyst with Batlivala and Karani in 1983. He started Geojit in 1987, which today has 400 offices in the country. It was the first brokerage firm to start Internet trading in India.

Here's his take on four questions from Business Line:

Two things that my education/ training taught me:

All burning desires are fulfilled if there is a will to work hard.

Do only what you are passionate about.

Two things I learnt from my work/real life:

There are no shortcuts to success.

Don't compromise on basic values even if that means an immediate loss.

One quality I look for the most in a new recruit:

Attitude.

A book that I read recently:

Business Ethics, a compilation published by The Economist.
