Career after CFA?

After my B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, I am working in a software firm from the past 18 months. I enrolled for CFA Distance Programme from ICFAI University in 2007. What will be my career prospects after completing the course with the background I have. Please do suggest me how this would be advantageous if I want to continue in the software industry. Otherwise, what are the other options I have?

As you may be aware. the CFA course has main focus on financial markets, financial statement analysis, Equity analysis and valuation, portfolio management and mutual funds.. The course enables one to branch out to financial services and banking sectors. Your engineering background coupled with your software exposure and CFA qualification will definitely help you over a period. You can expect good growth in the software industry itself. You may choose to work on IT projects in the domain of securities, banking, mutual funds and so on. You have to demonstrate your functional as well as technical competence by taking up challenging assignments wherein you can play the role of the Module Lead/Project Manager. You may look for opportunities outside as well. In the meantime, you have to work towards completing the CFA course with distinction.
