Education MBA through distance learning
I have completed a dual-degree offered by BITS-Pilani an MSc (Hons) in Physics and a BE (Hons) in Mechanical. I have been working as a software engineer since August 2006. I would like to know if doing an Executive MBA is worth it. My employer company has tie-ups with premier institutes. How does the normal MBA differ from Distance Learning MBA? Is it worth doing such an MBA? Maheshwar. R An Executive MBA is normally meant for busy executives who are not in a position to do a full-time MBA programme. Such programmes are conducted at convenient timings so as to equip the executives with the latest in the management field. One can pursue this programme without leaving the job. Regular MBA programmes have an edge over distance MBA programmes in view of the full-time study, campus atmosphere, faculty involvement, reputation of the B-school, alumni networking, placement potential and so on. In this case there is the flexibility to join any company of one's choice. Considering your background, I would suggest that you go in for a full-time MBA programme from a reputed B-School.
