Education Columns - Career Crossroads MBA after CFA?
I am a B.Com and currently doing the CFA course. I intend pursuing MBA later. Does it really make sense to do an MBA in Finance after CFA? What about some course other than MBA? Alok Kumar Nawani
A CFA-MBA combination is really great. Pursuing a full-time MBA programme from a reputed institute widens your placement prospects. You can confidently move across verticals. You will have an edge over others. An MBA qualification will definitely help you in making a fast track career growth. Besides being a good learning experience, the course enriches your personality. In MBA Finance you can choose subjects that interest you and which are not covered in CFA. To broaden your domain range, you can choose verticals such as banking and insurance. Pursuing an MBA programme is surely worth the effort. Admission without entrance exam
I am interested in doing MBA, but without having to take any entrance examination. I have practical experience in marketing. Is there any possibility of my getting into a Business school? Mayuri Gangar
Different B-schools have varied yardsticks in selecting their students. Normally all reputed business schools consider entrance examination scores as the eligibility criteria for taking the students in. But there are exceptions to this general rule. For instance, a start-up business school in its first or second batch may not insist on entrance examination provided the candidate has a reasonably good academic track record and some industrial experience. You can look at promising new business schools with a clear-cut vision which offer value-added curriculum for their post-graduate programmes. S. KANNAN
