Nothing worthwhile comes easy

Dr J. K. Nair

Dr J. K. Nair is Executive Vice-President and COO of Calsoft. An active academician and researcher, Dr Nair, an alumnus of IIT Chennai, serves as guest faculty at some of the leading schools and has published several research articles. Here’s his take on four questions from Business Line:

Two things that my education/training taught me:

Knowledge is learning combined with distinctive experience, context, interpretation and reflection.

Attention to detail is critical to success. Nothing worthwhile comes easy.

Two things I learnt from my work/real life:

Focus, together with knowledge and commitment, can unleash tremendous all round value.

Be the change we want to see in the world. Use the inner compass, to navigate the journey.

One quality I look for the most in a new recruit:

An aspiration to contribute. Work should not just be about money or power.

A book that I read recently:

Unstoppable, by Chris Zook.
