People Columns - 60 Seconds Chief! Adapt to changes in the work environment
Ashok Punj Ashok Punj is the Managing Director of PSL, a manufacturing company that supplies steel pipes to the oil, gas and water sectors. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. After working in the US, he returned to join the family business before setting up PSL. Here’s his take on four questions from Business Line: Two things that my education/training taught me: Recognising shifts in technology, particularly those brought about by research and development. The ability to apply analytical thought processes in day-to-day decision making at work. Two things I learnt from my work/real life: To adapt to changes in the work environment without getting flustered. The importance of adhering to completion schedules. One quality I look for the most in a new recruit: An attitude of enthusiasm combined with a willingness to learn. A book that I read recently: Peter The Great: His Life And World, by Robert K.
