HRA regime

I find the HRA exemption regime outdated. It does not treat Pune on a par with Delhi and the three other metropolitan cities.

Suhas Tambulwadkar, Pune

I fully agree with you. To grant exemption on HRA to the extent of 50 per cent of one’s salary if he lived in one of the four metros and only on 40 per cent if he lived in other places rankles, especially to those who live in equally costly places in the matter of rent such as Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and so on. It is time the CBDT gave up its metro fixation.
