In quick succession, the Government has once again transferred key officials, including KP Krishnan, Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs.
Krishnan, who has been transferred to the Ministry of Rural Development in the same capacity, is among the 11 Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary level officers who were shifted on Monday.
Until now serving as the in-charge of the Capital Market Division in the Finance Ministry and also as Director-General of the Directorate of Currency, Krishnan will now be in the Department of Land Resources under the Ministry of Rural Development. Taking his post will be Ajay Tyagi, who was Joint Secretary in the Environment Ministry.
Another significant appointment is Nirmaljit Singh Kalsi, an IAS officer from Punjab, as advisor to the Inter-State Council Secretariat under the Home Ministry.
Kewal Kumar Sharma will be the new Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
In less than a month, the Modi Government has shifted over 80 officials at the Secretary, Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary level. One of the biggest reshuffles was on September 23, when eight Secretaries and over 40 Joint Secretaries were transferred.
