The RideACycle Foundation (RAC-F) is eagerly looking forward to make Tour of Nilgiris (TfN) 2017 a memorable event as it coincides with the 200th year of cycle invention.

The event (TfN 2017), scheduled between December 10 and 17 is the tenth in the series and expected to witness 128 cyclists (120 men and 8 women) pedal across demanding terrains across three states - Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the south, covering a distance of 1,000 km.

The tour will begin from Bengaluru. The cyclists will pedal through Mysuru, Madikeri, Sultan Bathery, Udhagamandalam and finish by pedalling back to Mysuru.

Deepak Majipatil, Co-founder, RAC-F said that in this adventure rally, the cyclists will cover the distance through curves, speedways, amazing terrains, including plains, mountains, coffee and tea plantations and three wild life sanctuaries.

The participants include 18 cyclists from countries such as The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, USA and Russia.

Karthik Ponnapa, co-founder, Smarter Dharma - a social enterprise working on environmental and social sustainability, said that he has been volunteering and working on the tour for the past 6 years.

Jaideep Singh, Senior Vice-President and Head, Hospitality Assets Division, Bhartiya City Developers, Bengaluru, says that cycling as a hobby has helped motivate and network with people across cities.
