Recounting the great qualities of late President A.P.J Abdul Kalam, the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said that this 'people's president' was man of great humility.

Delivering the first A.P.J.Abdul Kalam memorial lecture in the capital, Jaitley said India continued to be inspired by Kalam and treats him till date as one of the important role models that the country has seen.

" In an environment of cynicism, he was one man who represented positivism. We can't even bring out a single incident which showed that he was not positive", Jaitley said.

Kalam was never critical, hardly ever self critical, never cynical, never looked back at what was not desirable and always looked at positive side of every situation, Jaitley added.

"That is what made him truly inspirational", the Finance Minister said.

Jaitley also highlighted that Kalam's connect with younger generation was almost instantaneous.

He (Kalam) entered Rashtrapathi Bhawan with books and left office with books.

" This only embodifies the fact that he (Kalam) realized the value of education. He realized that India was an overpopulated nation and unless you can convert the human minds into well trained resource through education, the objective of leading India into developed society may not be realised", Jaitley said.

"Even about a year ago when he passed away and left us, the kind of outpouring in his honour this country witnessed is almost unprecedented".
