Anti-nuclear activist SP Udaykumar has sent a legal notice to the Ministry of Home Affairs, alleging that the Intelligence Bureau (IB) report on NGOs, which was leaked last week, had been done to defame him.

While addressing the media last week, Udaykumar had made it clear that he would take legal action against the IB over the report, which he said not just defamed him but also threatened his and his family’s safety.

A letter sent to the Ministry by Udaykumar’s legal counsel asked for “appropriate departmental disciplinary action to be initiated against S. A. Rizvi immediately.”

The letter alleges that Rizvi, Joint Director, Intelligence Bureau, was responsible for leaking the “secret” report last week, which, in turn, alleges Udaykumar was “involved in a conspiracy of an intricate network aimed to take down India’s nuclear programme through NGO activism by means of foreign funds.”
