Management of non-communicable disease (NCD) has become imperative in the face of rising care costs, said experts, calling for leveraging digital technology to raise awareness and get better outcomes. They were participating in a summit organised by the Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) here.

Bollywood actor and cancer crusader Manisha Koirala said: “Cancer was the catalyst which turned my life around… Thanks to scientific progress and medical advancements, many patients can hope to lead longer and better lives.”

The summit was supported by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers.

OPPI President Shailesh Ayyangar, who is Managing Director, India, & Vice-President, Sanofi India, said: “The good news is that we have therapies that can combat these diseases and help patients live a normal life by strengthening patient self-management education and community-based supportive services.”

Milan Rao of Wipro GE Healthcare, stressed the importance of collaboration between the healthcare fraternity and the IT industry.
