Noted author Ashis Nandy today stoked a major row with his comments that people belonging to OBC, SC and ST communities were the “most corrupt”, remarks that came under all round attack.

“It is a fact that most of the corrupt come from OBCs and Scheduled Castes and now increasingly the Scheduled Tribes,” he said participating in a session at the ongoing Jaipur Literature Festival.

Going further, he said, “I will give an example. One of the states with the least amount of corruption is state of West Bengal when the CPI(M) was there. And I must draw attention to the fact that in the last 100 years, nobody from OBC, SC and ST has come anywhere near to power. It is an absolutely clean state.”

He was immediately challenged by one of the panelists Ashutosh, a TV journalist.

“This is the most bizarre statement I have heard. The Brahmins and the upper cast can do away with all the corruption but when a low caste person emulates the same thing it becomes so wrong. Such a statement is not right,” he said.

Nandy’s comments triggered a storm with BSP chief Mayawati and LJP leader Ram Vilas demanding registration of case under SC/ST Act against Nandy. Mayawati wanted him to be jailed immediately. Congress, BJP, JD(U), CPI as also the SC Commission Chairman P L Punia also condemned the remarks.

While seeking to clarify, Nandy made a flip flop saying he would apologise if he had been misunderstood.

However, when questioned further, he said “I don’t apologise at all because I hold it very close to my heart. I was, in fact, supporting the cause of those who are marginalised and those who are in minority and those who are oppressed. I have spent all my life supporting their causes and will continue doing it.”

He said he actually meant that if people from OBC, SC and ST indulge in corruption, it is “corruption indeed” while those from upper caste can go scotfree.

Anti-corruption is a cheap tool/trick used by FORWARD CASTE people to promote their Hegemony over BC/SC/ST/MC people in India.
90% of corrupt money ($2 trillion) is with FORWARD CASTE people and 10 of them also evaded $100 billion to Banks in India. Their population in India is less than 15%.
Tell FORWARD CASTE to take their Caste share of land as per 4th August 1932 Round Table Conference Resolution (Communal Award) and go build their own nation

Do not shoot the messenger. Is there is any truth? May be. As the basis
of extending reservation is to give the due share to dalits,SC,ST in
government. Their salary is not paid for their work in government.

Shinde and mani shankar aiyer called the entire Hindu community
terrorists—and nothing happened to them.
Why is mayawati NOT being charged when she speaks the same way like
ashish nandi about upper castes?
Are indian laws for protection of dalits and minorities only?
Why are Hindus sidelined in their own country?
Why is the Hindu majority always wrong ?
It is high time we abolish the caste system in India and go only on
merit. Two generations have passed away in free India.

while mr nandi must have avoided such generalized comments but outburst of mayavati and lalu yadav is not at all justified as these two have given lots of castiest remark in general meeting .infact their foundation is abusing the caste structure .further to book any one against sc/st act is not at all justified .where will upper caste should go is such remarks are made against them from public forum as has been done by lalu yadav and mayavati etc in past .recenly digviyay sing brought the caste of hom minister as if home minister still need caste protection even after becoming home minister.

why only upper castes ruling the country from last 2000 years and
oppressed majority of population under name of dalits. now they are
talking about merit based selection strategy in fields like education
and jobs since because their children are facing problems. it is Dr.
Ambedkar who break the shackles of caste and religion and freed all
the downtrodden. Go and read all your vedas and manuscrits again which
are full of non sense and suggests ways how to depress other human
beings only including women. Actually SC, SC and OBC reservation quota
shall be increased to bring equality in the society.
