Astonfield Renewable Resources Ltd’s co-Chairman Ameet Shah has been appointed to the US Department of Commerce’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee (RE&EEAC).
The acting US Secretary of Commerce Rebecca M. Blank appointed Shah to represent project developers in the renewable energy sector. He will help advice the Department’s top official on competitiveness issues facing the US renewable energy and energy efficiency exports, and help provide consensus advice on the development and administration of programmes and policies, according to a release here.
Formed in 2010 during President Barack Obama’s first administration, the Committee is made up of nearly 30 individuals representing renewable energy companies, energy efficiency companies, organisations and trade associations. Shah’s appointment will be effective through June 2014.
Shah drives the financial and operational strategy at Astonfield. An expert in building companies and executing complex projects, he works with Astonfield’s financial, technical and Government partners. He has mobilised principal and venture capital investments of over $150 million in the past 12 years in the US and India for a number of companies under his association.
Astonfield’s 12.3 MW solar photovoltaic plant in Nayaka, Gujarat, was sanctioned under the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA). Located in Patan district, the plant sits on nearly 90 acres of private land. Schneider Electric, its technology partner, performed EPC services.
