After the visit of a German delegation, a 32-member team from seven companies in Belgium were here to exchange ideas with industry experts on the future of urban development.
The visit was organised by CII, Coimbatore. It is said to be part of ‘Urbanisation Series 2016’ mission, focussing on exchange of innovative ideas and solutions to tackle in the area of urban development.
“Since Coimbatore figures in the smart cities list, we perceived that Indian and Belgian companies could collaborate on various smart initiatives,” said Reinout Van Hullebus, Project Manager (Export- Asia), Brussels Invest & Export.
The team arrived here from Kochi, which also figures in the government's smart city list.
They had selected Kochi, Coimbatore and Chennai in south India, to understand and provide technical guidance in areas such as waste management, healthcare, energy and traffic management among others.
