Expelled AAP MLA Vinod Kumar Binny, on Monday, called off his dharna against the Arvind Kejriwal government after just four hours of starting it.

However, he threatened to launch a major stir if his demands, including passage of Janlokpal bill, are not met in 10 days.

He termed Kejriwal a “dictator” and dared him to hold a referendum in his area and then expel him.

“Let the people say that the issues I have raised are incorrect, and I will quit,” said Binny, who sat on the dharna at Janata Mantar here with his supporters.

Meets Hazare Binny, who met Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday and Anna Hazare last week, said he had decided to stay off an andolan for now on their advice, and will wait till “Anna’s Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill is passed.”

“I give them (AAP government) 10 days to fulfil their promises, such as Lokpal Bill, women’s security force, free water for all (not just metered connections) and waiver for those who did not pay power bills on Kejriwal’s call,” he said.

He will contact AAP units across the country and hold volunteer meetings to build pressure on Kejriwal to keep his promises, he added.

Watching it fall Binny further claimed that Kejriwal is not “in a mood to run the Government” and “wanted it to fall” for two reasons. One, he is more bothered about the Lok Sabha polls and, two, he has realised that all the promises made by him cannot be fulfilled. The former Congress man was joined by a few hundred supporters, which included people wearing white caps with ‘India Against Corruption’, saffron caps with ‘Bharatiya Yuva Desbhakt Morcha’ and black caps with ‘Anjaan Aadmi’ (unknown person) written on them.

At the dharna , a group of residents from Okhla, who said they had worked for AAP during the elections, said they have stopped getting water tankers. “After the crackdown on private tankers, there is hardly any water for us now. He should have made arrangements before taking this step,” said a youth, Romi Bhadana.

A doctor from Burari, who said he has been with AAP since day one, said he wished ‘realisable’ promises were made. “I, too, feel, that they are in a hurry to fight Lok Sabha polls and (they) are neglecting the problems of people in Delhi,” he said.
