The AAP on Thursday accused the NDA government of adopting a “Gujarat-style” policy of persecuting political rivals, citing the CBI inquiry against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satyendar Jain’s daughter Saumya Jain.

The party claimed the BJP is “rattled” by the prospect of AAP's victory in the Assembly polls in Goa and Punjab and hence the CBI is being “misused” to terrorise its leaders.

The CBI had registered preliminary enquiries against Sisodia and Saumya in two separate cases.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Sisodia sent out a series of tweets, challenging the Centre to prove any case of corruption against them.

Kejriwal said it is a case of the Centre “fearing” AAP, and that the CBI is being employed to threaten them. AAP is not scared, he insisted.

“Manish (Sisodia) was waiting for CBI. Till now, people were scared of CBI. Now CBI is scared of people,” said Kejriwal. According to Sisodia, the BJP fears AAP because it practices clean and constructive politics. The SAD-BJP government in Punjab is worried that clean practitioners of politics may assume power in the State, especially because Kejriwal has threatened to jail corrupt SAD leaders, he added.

“We have one government in Punjab which is pushing children to drugs and substance abuse. We have one government in Delhi which is pushing children towards swimming pools, schools and playgrounds. The BJP is scared.

“That is why there is a case against me. I am waiting for the CBI — please come and arrest me if I am guilty. I work for 25 lakh children of Delhi. It is them that you are persecuting, not me,” said Sisodia, who is also Delhi’s Education Minister.

AAP Delhi convenor Dilip Pandey, meanwhile, told a press conference that Kejriwal’s assertion that he will “jail” Punjab Minister Bikram Singh Majithia before April 15 has the BJP worried.

“After Arvind Kejriwal promised to jail Majithia, even we were wondering why Modji was silent. But now, the CBI has been activated and let loose. Modiji’s cowardly act has established, in a way far better than any opinion poll, that AAP will win Punjab as well as Goa,” he said.

“The Gujarat model has been implemented here over the last last three years. AAP MLAs are being systematically targeted on false charges,” said party leader Jarnail Singh.
