British Council is aggressively canvassing for online library membership.
The Council, which is participating in the Mega Book Fair 2014, a three day event starting today at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has come up with an early bird offer of a 4 GB pen drive for the first 40 enrolments.
The one-year membership fee is Rs 1100, Chenju Lakshmi P V, Manager, Library and Cultural Centres (South India), British Council told Business Line.
Registered members would have access to more than 80000 eBooks, 14000+ eJournals (of which 7000 are full text), she explained.
The Council has already registered for online library membership across nine cities in India. 'We have close to 7000 members in the 18 to 35 age group, besides many more in other age bracket,' she said.
