Karnataka Minister for Infrastructure Development, Haj and Information R Roshan Baig has urged the Union Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda to provide space for setting up generic medicine stores at all railway stations in the country.

Baig, who called on the Union Minister in New Delhi, also appealed to the Railway Minister to speed up the infrastructure works in Bangalore.

Later, he met Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar and appealed to him to take steps to establish counters for generic medicine at railway stations.

The Karnataka Minister, along with a Legislator from Mangalore JR Lobo, urged Air India to restore air services between Mangalore and Kuwait.

Baig and Lobo submitted a memorandum to the Chairman of the Air India Rohith Nandan in New Delhi. Baig later called on the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation GM Siddeshwar and also appealed to him to reintroduce Air India flights between Mangalore and Kuwait.

Rail connectivity

A delegation led by Karnataka deputy speaker in Legislative Assembly, N H Shivashankara Reddy has urged the Union Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda to improve rail connectivity in Chikballapur district.

Shivashankara Reddy, who called on the Union Minister in New Delhi, appealed through a memorandum to provide stoppage of trains (Machalipattanam Express, Karnataka Express and Coimbatore Express) at Gauribidanur.

Upgradation of Dyavarapalli Railway Station to meet the increasing the demands of goods carriage, speed up construction of underpass at Karekallahalli, to initiate railway connectivity between Chikballapur and Gauribidanur, extension of railway line from Chikkaballapur to Puttaparthy via Bagepalli.

After a patient hearing, Union Minister Sadananda Gowda assured the delegation positively look into the issues. Former Legislators N Sampangi, Venkata Swamy and Former Vice President Taluk Panchayath, Gouribidanur, H N Prakash Reddy accompanied the Karnataka Deputy Speaker.
