The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered cases against a Ranchi based company and a Chhatisgarh based company for alleged irregularities in coal block allocation.

Sources in know of the development said that the Ranchi-based company is Domco Private Limited and the Chhatisgarh based company is Vandana Vidhyut Private Limited.

“The CBI has registered a case against Ranchi based private company and its then Promoters/Directors and unknown others,” the investigative agency said in an official statement. “It is alleged that the said company entered into conspiracy with unknown others and submitted false information with dishonest intention to the concerned authorities while applying for a captive coal block and secured allocation of ‘Lalgarh (North)’ coal block,” the statement added.

CBI also said that the then director of the Ranchi based company gained pecuniary benefit of ₹ 7 crore by selling shares of the company on premium after allocation of the coal block.

Similarly the case has also been filed against the Raipur, Chhatisgarh based company and its then promoter/director, the then members of the 35th Screening Committee and others in allocation of the Fatehpur East Coal block in the state. “It is alleged that the said company has misrepresented on aspect of net worth to get the coal block and Screening Committee deliberately did not follow the guidelines and shown undue favour to the company,” CBI said in its statement.
