Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has asked the domestic automobile industry to work on indigenous technologies to help reduce pollution. It needs to work on auto technologies that can use electricity, he said.

The Minister, who is also in charge of shipping and water resources, told reporters here on Sunday that he is not “against” the automobile industry, which is exporting significant volumes.

He further said the Centre is working on introducing flexible automobile engines (which can work on ethanol, petrol or a mix of both). “We will try our best to make it happen as early as possible,” he said.

Addressing the valedictory of the Leadership Summit 2017 held at the Indian School of Business here on Sunday, he said the Centre is focussing on agriculture and rural development. A growth in these sectors will create jobs in rural areas and help reduce the pressure on metro cities, he added.

Earlier, he gave a few management tips to the students. “Your success has no meaning if your subordinates don’t feel happy about your success. You need to incentivise those who are doing good work and keep tabs on those who are not working,” he said. “You need to conduct performance audits regularly. It is very important.”

Gadkari said the Centre has identified over 700 dangerous spots that witnessed a large number of accidents, and is in the process of taking measures to fix them. fixing the problem. “We are in the process of setting up district level committees with local MPs as heads and legislators as members.
