The entrance examination for entry into undergraduate (UG) medical courses would now be held in six languages besides English and Hindi, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced on Wednesday.
The National Eligiblity-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG), which is now the only extrance examination for all colleges — government, private and state — across the country, will be conducted in Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu and Tamil, besides English and Hindi.
“In addition to this, candidates qualifying for NEET will be eligible to an all-India quota and other quotas under the state governments/ institutes, irrespective of the medium in which the exam is taken by the candidate,” the Ministry said in a statement.
