The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has successfully implemented an international collaborative project on education funded by the European Union (EU).

This was announced by its Vice Chancellor P Appa Rao at a press conference held here on Monday.

The project, titled E-QUAL (Enhancing Quality, Access and Governance of Undergraduate Education in India), has been awarded to four Indian universities including the UoH, Ambedkar University, Delhi, Jadavpur University, Shiv Nadar University with two European partners, the King’s College, London and University of Bologna in 2013.

Objective

The objective of the project to enhance the quality, access and governance of undergraduate education in India through technology enabled learning with Indo-EU higher education partnerships and collaborations.

The UoH has almost completed the project which involved funding of over one million Euros from the start of the project till its completion in May, 2017, according to the Vice Chancellor.

Key disciplines

The project activities are implemented in four key disciplines of critical thinking, cultural studies, human ecology and environment, natural resource & sustainable development. While first three disciplines have been handled by other partners, the last one was conducted by the UoH.

On the significance and outcome of the project for the university, Appa Rao said: “We are the first central university in the country. to develop and adopt online education policy and to set up an e-learning centre.”

The modules designed by UoH provides learners to get exposed to diverse disciplinary perspectives and basic concepts for a holistic understanding on the subject.

Besides being a university level project involving faculty from different disciplines, it also exposed its faculty and students to e-Learning.
