ICFAI Business School (IBS), Hyderabad has won two awards in the 37th John Molson MBA International Case Writing Competition, organised by John Molson School of Business, Concordia University, Canada. A case titled, “Walmart’s E-Commerce Acquisition Spree: Toward Online Success Or Existential Crisis?” written by Syeda Tahera Sadia and Indu Perepu bagged second prize in the competition.
The case discusses the e-commerce acquisition spree of the world’s largest retailer Walmart and how this decision to go omni-channel would affect the retail giant’s profitability. Another case titled, “Birchbox” written by Indu Perepu and Alok Kavthankar also won a prize in the same competition. This case discusses a beauty products subscription startup Birchbox, and the challenges it faced in its quest for growth.
The other winning cases were from B-schools in Ireland, Canada, and Brazil. The cases selected from this competition are used in the John Molson MBA International Case Competition, where students from reputed B-schools analyse them and compete for the top honors. The Walmart case was selected for the finals of the competition.
ICFAI Business School Hyderabad has developed around 6,000 cases that are used by more than 800 B-schools in more than 75 countries annually.
