General Management stream hogged the attention at the final placements at the Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad for its Post Graduate Programme (PGP) class of 2018. Consulting firms, offering management consulting roles across geographies, continue to hire in large numbers. Majors such as Accenture Strategy made the highest number of offers (including pre-placement offers) at 17, closely followed by The Boston Consulting Group with 15 offers in the Cluster 1, held on Saturday at the IIM-A campus.

IIM-A has always had an extremely rich mix of firms from diverse sectors. This reinforces the strength of the general management program at IIM-A, a statement said here. The firms that participated in Cluster 1 comprised three cohorts namely - investment banking and markets, management consulting and private equity, venture capital and hedge funds.

Besides consulting majors Accenture and BCG, the list of Cluster 1 recruiters included regular recruiters such as A. T. Kearney, Bain & Co., Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, McKinsey & Company, Monitor Deloitte, Oliver Wyman among others. Finance firms offered (including pre-placement offers) roles in investment banking, private equity, venture capital and capital markets across functions and geographies.

The Finals placement process for the PGP class of 2018 began on February 10, under a cluster cohort placement process wherein companies offering similar profiles are grouped into cohorts, and several cohorts are invited to the campus in a particular cluster. The three-cluster placements schedule has next cluster-2 taking place on February 13, 2018, followed by the last scheduled for February 16, 2018. The institute will follow a rolling process post Cluster 3 if necessary.
