Management consulting and FMCG firms dominated the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore’s accelerated summer placement hiring.

Top recruiters from across sectors participated in the placement season for the PGP class of 2016-18, and the exercise was completed from November 7–10. The institute simultaneously hosted the summer recruitment process for IIM Visakhapatnam’s PGP Class of 2016-18, and 60 per cent of the applicants have been placed.

Like last year, the IIM Bangalore Placement Committee was involved in mentorship of IIM Visakhapatnam students in the run-up to the placement process.

This year the process witnessed the participation of 402 students and more than 150 companies came to hire students for summer stints in multiple roles such as management consulting, investment banking, markets, corporate banking, sales and marketing, business leadership, product management, operations, category management, and general management.

Commenting on the placement, Prof Ganesh Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore said, "The absence of major e-commerce recruiters did not have an impact on the summer placement process due to renewed interest from FMCG companies."
