IFIM business school has partnered with Nasscom and the Central government to become a licensed training partner in Karnataka with an intention to skill 10,000 post graduate students.

The main intention is to bring out the importance of a public private partnership for improving the employability quotient of a skilled India, company officials said.

The IFIM institutions along with Nasscom has started a ‘Train the trainer’ initiative in three courses —Associate Analytics, Junior Data Analytics and Recruitment Associate.

S Sadagopan, Director of IIIT-Bangalore said: “A partnership of the government, along with the educational institutions and the IT sector, is crucial to help catalyse the growth in data analytics.”

An Analytics India Industry Study 2016 says the analytics market currently stands at $1.64 billion annually in revenues, at a healthy growth rate of 28.8 per cent CAGR.

The Indian IT industry which deploys around 3.9 million professionals in the IT sector is facing a serious threat as a large majority of them do not have modern day skillsets.

Research firms like Gartner have said that 70 per cent of the workforce will be rendered useless by 2020. Sanjay Padode, Secretary, Centre for Developmental Education, IFIM Institutions, said: “As data becomes the new fuel in running industries, the need for a professional knowledge of analytics and utilising it in artificial intelligence gains in importance. Largely, it will define how the existing businesses upgrade to incorporate AI and use analytics.”

Further, the Karnataka government recently said that it is setting up Centres of Excellence in IoT, robotics, cybersecurity, data analytics and aerospace. “The State has the potential to create 20,000 start-ups by 2020 and will leverage the ₹2,000-crore fund for start-ups in addition to fostering industry partnerships,” according to IT/BT and Tourism Minister, Priyank Kharge.
